Happy Walk for Down Syndrome

Over 2,000 people joined this year’s Happy Walk for Down Syndrome in its new home at the SMX Mall of Asia – a significant increase from the 1,200 who attended last year. It was the biggest crowd in the event’s 14-year history.

Angels Walk for Autism

Angels Walk, the yearly celebration for autism awareness spearheaded by the Autism Society Philippines (ASP) in partnership with the Mall of Asia Arena and SM Cares, the corporate social responsibility arm of SM Prime Holdings, has gone international!

2015 Teenpreneur Cchallenge at the SM Megamall

High school students from different schools gathered to test their entrepreneurial skills in this year's Teenpreneur challenge at SM Megamall on October 23-25, 2015. 

SM Supports Greening of Hinulugang Taktak.

SM Cares donated bamboo trees that were planted in the five tributaries of Hinulugang Taktak, one of Antipolo City’s main tourist attractions. This is in support of the re-greening efforts of the Province of Rizal under the its Ynares Eco System (YES) program.

The SM Cares Program on Disability Affairs bags the Hall of Fame Award at the 2015 Apolinario Mabini Awards held at Malacanang Palace.

Coastal Clean-up

SM By The Bay Coastal Clean Up, in support of the International Coastal Clean-Up initiative, had more than 1,000 volunteers, led by the SM Mall of Asia Team and officials of the Philippine Coast Guard.

In partnership with SM Cares, City of Pasay, DENR, GSIS, Ocean Conservancy and Maynilad.

Oldies But Techies at SM Bacolod

August 20, 2015 was a techie-day for our Lolos and Lolas. Together with the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos - IT Department, faculty and students taught our Seniors the basics of social networking and technology. They were able to use social media networks such as Facebook and YouTube, in order for them to communicate with their family and friends and also a new way to entertain themselves.

Best Buddies goes to the Exploreum

"Best Buddies" program volunteers bring their PWD friends (with autism and down syndrome) to the Exploreum at the SM Mall Of Asia for a day of fun, science and learning!

This program is in partnership with SM Cares and SM Lifestyle Entertainment Inc. (SMLEI).

Oldies but Techies

The Oldies but Techies program teaches the elderly the basics of social networking and technology, so that they are empowered to communicate with their loved ones here or abroad.

SM and Disney Partnership.

Part of SM's CSR initiative, children from the Child Haus Center (Center for Health Improvement and Life Development) were invited and welcomed as special guests during the Disney show, which featured musical performances, acrobatic acts, Meet & Greet of Disney mascots, a life-sized Cinderella's Castle and many more surprises.


Grandparents Day: Icons Meet and Greet.

In celebration of Grandparents Day, senior citizens were treated to a free concert by renowned international singers Mark Preston, formerly of the Lettermen and John Claude Gummoe, former member of the Cascades. The event, dubbed "ICONS Meet & Greet" was held at the Skydome of SM City North Edsa.


SM Employee Volunteerism Program.

SM employees all over the country participated in the Employee Volunterism Program called “Show More Concern for the Community.”

The project allowed SM employees to participate in community-based activites especially in areas where an SM mall operates. Activities included clean-up and restoration of public schools and day-care centers.


Employee Volunteerism Program - "Show More Care for the Elderly"

Last September 12, 2015, employees from SM Supermalls, SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc. (SMLEI), SM Family Entertainment, Inc. (FECI) and SM Engineering Design Development Corp. (SMEDD Corp.) visited a senior citizen center in Pasay City. Likewise, employees from SM Supermalls across the country also visited senior citizen centers in the respective communities where an SM Mall operate.

International Youth Day

National Youth Commission in partnership with SM Cares held the International Youth Day celebration at the Skydome, SM City North EDSA last August 12, 2015.

The 16th International Youth Day with the theme "Youth Civic Engagement" served as a celebration of the youth as essential partners in change, as well as an opportunity to raise awareness on the challenges and problems facing the world's youth.

The event was graced with several esteemed speakers including Senator Grace Poe; Usec. Gio Tingson; Asec. Dong Dantes; Ms. Georgina Nava; ; Mr. Ahmad Alhendawi and Rep. Anthony Del Rosario


Himig Tanglaw

SM Cares, in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Philippine Chamber of Massage Industry for the Visually Impaired (PCMIVI), held the first "Himig Tanglaw", a musical talent search for Filipinos with Visual Impaired. The event was held at the Skydome of SM City North EDSA last August 4, 2015.

The First International Breastfeeding Conference

Ms. Bernadette Velasco, Program Director of the SM Cares Program on Women and Breastfeeding was one of the guest speakers during thefirst international Breastfeeding Conference and 3rd Breastfeeding Congress entitled: Breastfeeding and Work: Let's Make it Work!

The event was held at the Crown Plaza Hotel last August 4, 2015.


SM Supports Metro Manila Shake Drill.

SM Supermalls within Metro Manila participated in MMDA's Metro Wide Shake Drill. The Earthquake and evacuation drill will increase the metro’s chances of better recovery and implementation of contingencies in the event of earthquakes.

The importance of disaster preparedness and resiliency is key across SM’s operations, from its management down to the employees and mall frontliners. SM's participation is one of it's ways in serving it's customers and the public in general.

MOA Signing with COMELEC

SM Supermalls and the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) signed a Memorandum of Agreement that will open all 52 SM Supermalls as an alternative venue for “No Bio, No Boto”, a Voters Biometrics Registration program that will run from July to September 2015. With a nationwide scope and an average daily foot traffic of 3.5 Million customers, the partnership aims to provide a convenient Biometrics Registration place for the public, most especially for persons with disabilities and senior citizens.

Fruitas Donates to SM Cares Housing Project

The Adopt-a-Day-Care-Center program was held last June 6, 2015, participated by SM volunteer employees who painted the walls, cleaned the classroom and did some repairs. School materials were also donated by the employees to the students. Beneficiary school was the St. Claire Day Care Center, located in Pasay City.


Earth Day 2015

SM Celebrates Earth Day

SM Cares, in partnership with Earth Day Network Philippines and DENR invite you to reduce, reuse and recycle on April 22 as we celebrate Earth Day.

Earth Day Run

Run the Race for Mother Earth and join PRO Earth Run 2015 on April 25, 2015 at the SM Mall of Asia Grounds, Pasay City. Race starts at 4:30 AM.

Earth Hour

Last March 28, 2015, lights at 52 SM Supermalls all over the Philippines and 6 SM Malls in China were switched off for 1 hour to observe Earth Hour, a global movement of the World Wide Fund to unite people to take action for the planet. The campaign aims to encourage an interconnected global community to share the opportunities and challenges of creating a sustainable world.

Happy Walk

Thousands come to join and support the 2015 Happy Walk for Down syndrome. Thank you for the partnership DSAPI! Thank you to all the families and organizations who participated! 

Happy Walk is a project of the Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, Inc., in partnership with SM Cares. The event aims to raise awareness and appreciation for people with down syndrome.


2015 Don Emilio Abello Energy Award

Retail and property giant SM Prime Holdings, Inc. brought home the most awards in the prestigious Don Emilio Abello Energy Efficiency Awards for 2015, including five Hall of Fame awards for its outstanding efforts to improve its energy efficiency.
